Why Is The Auditor’s Position Important?

The Missouri State Auditor’s sole responsibility is to protect the fiscal interests of the people of Missouri and thereby is an independent entity who places the interest of the public first. The Auditor warrants that public dollars are spent properly and where the law and the people legally required those funds to be spent. Each and every taxpayer dollar is budgeted and allocated for particular functions that are used to provide critical services including but not limited to providing education, attract jobs and businesses, maintain parks and lakes, healthcare, senior care, housing, police, roads, bridges and many, many more functions that are intended to protect our standard of living and keeping Missourians safe.
